On this full-day tour, you’ll have the chance to explore Spain’s most recent lava flow and the site of the 2021 Cumbre Vieja volcanic eruption! Just a few years ago, this eruption engulfed four towns and expanded the island of La Palma with a brand-new lava delta.

The ferry departing from Los Cristianos in the early morning reaches the island’s capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, by late morning. From there, the group heads up to a viewpoint overlooking the city, and then continues across to the other side of the island. Along two newly opened roads cut through the fresh lava flow, you’ll witness both the scale of the destruction and the ongoing rebuilding efforts. You’ll see banana plantations and houses buried by lava, surrounded by a striking contrast of black volcanic fields and the deep blue ocean.

Next, you’ll visit a viewpoint located inside the former “forbidden zone” — the closest point the bus can reach to the Cumbre Vieja volcano. From here, you’ll have a clear view of the vast area covered by the recent eruption.

The day ends in the historic center of Santa Cruz de La Palma, before returning to Tenerife on the 5:00 p.m. ferry.
