Emerging in the mid-20th century, Patalavaca is a coastal town on the southern shore of Gran Canaria. The name translates as “cow’s foot” in Hungarian — some say it comes from the cattle farms that once existed here, while others believe it was inspired by the shape of the surrounding mountains. Whatever the origin, today it has become a perfect destination for those seeking a peaceful and quiet area, still within easy reach of the island’s tourist attractions.
At the end of the valley lies a calm, gently sloping black-sand beach with tranquil waters, while right next door you’ll find the famous white-sand beach of Playa Anfi del Mar. Excellent restaurants can be found in nearby Arguineguín, which has almost merged with Patalavaca.

For shopping, there are three Spar supermarkets close to Casa Tucan: one with a café and breakfast corner in the valley opposite, a smaller one on the access road, and a larger one in neighboring Arguineguín. And on Tuesdays, the local market is only a 10-minute drive away!
